Raušarį is situated in an old brewery and some of the restaurant's indoor features bear witness to the history of the building. The menu at the Raušarį Steakhouse is an simple one, with an emphasis on grilled meat and fish. It includes various Icelandic specialties, such as the great delicacy smoked puffin. The story of the house
In 1928 Mr. Holmjarn J. Holmjarn started the ale and soda manu-facturing company Žór hf. He built a great brewery at Raušįrstķgur in 1930.
During the war years strong beer was brewed for the occupution forces in this building. In 1967 Egils brewery moved it’s hole operations to Raušarįrstķgur and until 1985 operated the largest brewery in the country here.
