The best time of the year for viewing the Aurora Borealis is the period from September to April but can only be seen on a clear night. Northern lights is undoubtly one of the most spectacular, beautiful and enchanting of nature’s phenomena. To look skywards on a crisp, clear night and see these giant curtains of colored light weaving and swaying, gliding and flowing gracefully across the northerly heavens is pure magic.
In ancient Norse mythology, auroral rays were perceived as the reflections of the shields of the Valkyries as they rode across the sky bearing the warriors slain in the battle to their heroic resting place in Valhalla.
We drive away from the city light of Reykjavik and head to the countryside to see the magic of the auroras borealis dancing in the sky in Iceland. This is a mysterious tour with lots of adventures of the dancing northern lights.
